Meet Our Local Makers

We are so honoured to be surrounded by beautiful, timeless pieces, we love to support local artisans and would like you to meet them.

Maria Klingner

As an artist and a maker, I am fortunate to have the first intimate relationship with the piece I have created.

My work reflects the relationships between jewellery, the human form and often nature. It investigates the dynamic connection between adornment, creative expression, daily rituals and embedded memory. They are to be worn and enjoyed; uniting the maker, the wearer and the viewer.

I combine the extensive technical skills gained in the jewellery manufacturing trade in the 1980’s with the artistic freedom discovered studying at the ANU School of Art in 2006.

My work reflects a continued development and exploration of materials, form and content. Essentially, it is created by drawing from the many layers and various aspects of my own life experiences.

In 2017, I moved from Canberra to Yackandandah and now work in my studio/workshop full-time and have recently started running classes. My practice sees me working with a variety of both precious and semi-precious materials, metals and gemstones, together with recycled materials.
